Adult/Adolescent Services

Residential Services: THE INDEPENDENCE PROJECT offers Alternative Family Living arrangements, roommate matching and support, periodic supports and care management oversight. We teach all of the skills required to live independently in the community. This includes cooking, healthy lifestyle, managing day-to-day, laundry, housekeeping, etc.

Vocational: THE INDEPENDENCE PROJECT offers traditional Job Coaching and Training on the job. Assistance with navigating the Vocational Rehabilitation System and enhancing state-paid supports through additional hours job searching. We also work on all vocational skills depending on the needs. This may be supporting someone in a volunteer setting to develop skills and discover preferences, interviewing skills, application support, and on-going encouragement. We also have a private-pay Follow-Along Service which gives job coaches the ability to monitor on a monthly basis and deal with issues as they arise. This affects the overall long-term success of the job placement.

Social: THE INDEPENDENCE PROJECT sponsors events when our folks come together and have activities in the community. They decide on the events and staff will provide transportation and support on site throughout. We also support individuals in expanding personal relationships and encourage possible friendships based on age, interests and cognitive levels.

Mentoring: We provide informal counseling in the community in the form of mentoring. We also teach strategies to manage stress, develop organizational skills and routine and time-management in the community and at home.

Other: Person-Centered Planning, Family Meetings and Support, Assistance with Meet Up Groups, Assistance with Navigating State Benefits, Respite, Vacation Companion
